NORWOOD -- Catholic Charities South held its 15th Annual Fashion Show and Dinner, "Fundraising Fashion," on October 16th at the Four Points Sheraton in Norwood. Over 350 women attended to celebrate the work of Catholic Charities South in their communities.
The event featured fashions by Ports and Company of Cohasset and Susan Wornick of WCVB-TV served as master of ceremonies.
At this time of year, as we reflect upon our many blessings, I know that I count among my own blessings the many people that are Catholic Charities -- those we serve and those who serve. Our staff of 600 full and part-time professionals is ably supported in their work by nearly 3,000 volunteers, donating well over 200,000 hours of service over the past year.
This fall, we honored seven "Exceptional Volunteers" at our annual Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon. The depth and breadth of their commitment is impressive.
The Boston Globe -- Cardinal Sean P. O’Malley said American bishops should do more to highlight the church’s work on poverty in response to Pope Francis’s call to Catholics to be “a church for the poor.”
