Who We Are: Established in 1986, Community Interpreter Services (CIS) has been assisting persons with limited English proficiency (LEPs) in accessing legal, medical, educational and other services through the provision of oral interpretation (face-to-face and telephonic interpretation) and written translation for more than 25 years.
We work with corporations and agencies that have diverse customer bases and employee populations who need to overcome language or cultural barriers. The CIS program includes more than 200 trained professional interpreters and translators, who, collectively, are fluent in over 80 languages.
What We Do: Our team of interpreters and translators maximize communication and understanding between service providers and LEPs. While we specialize in providing interpretation and translation services related to helping LEPs obtain access to important social services, we also welcome and provide translation, interpretation, and cultural competency assistance to for-profit and non-profit organizations in a variety of industries. These organizations engage us to ensure that they are communicating with their clients and prospective clients in a culturally appropriate, meaningful and effective manner.
Why Work With Us
Support Us. Support Our Programs.
Unlike the majority of programs and services that Catholic Charities offers, CIS serves as a revenue generator for Catholic Charities. The income generated from the CIS program is used to fund the many social programs that we are able to offer to the vulnerable populations we serve.
We Understand Your Needs Because We Have the Same Ones.
Many of the individuals we serve at Catholic Charities have limited spoken or written English skills. Our services grew out of and continue to serve our Refugee and Immigration Services clients’ needs. Let us apply that same great expertise to help you ensure the best possible experience for your clients or prospective clients.
