Join Catholic Charities to urge State Representatives to support amendment to restore critical funding for emergency food distribution

MEFP (learn more)
Amendment #205

Estimates show about 571,600 people across Massachusetts need the state's emergency food assistance network. .

Last week, the Massachusetts House of Representatives cut $250,000 from the MEFAP (emergency food) line item that covers the cost of distributing food. While we appreciate that the MEFAP core food account was not cut, we are asking the House to restore the $250,000.

Please contact your state representative and ask that he or she support House Amendment #205, which restores the $250,000 needed to distribute food to 800 food pantries, soup kitchens, and shelters across the Commonwealth. This $250,000 represents 20% of the funds cut from this account, which even before the cut did not fully cover the food distribution. costs.
