2020 Census To End One Month Earlier

Tuesday, August 4, 2020

The last day to participate in the 2020 U.S. Census will be September 30, 2020. Previously, the last date to complete it was October 31, and the loss of one month could lead to a significant undercount, especially for people of color and immigrants.

Participating in the Census is important to help make sure Boston’s communities don’t lose out on representation and funding for the next ten years. All information is confidential- your answers cannot be used against you by any government agency or court. The Census Bureau can’t share your personal information with DHS, law enforcement, or your landlord until 72 years have passed and it won’t affect any public benefits you receive.

Only 53% of households in Boston have participated to date, and the results can affect some critical federal funding needed to support all of our neighborhoods.

If you haven’t already, please complete the Census today, either online or over the phone in 13 different languages, and encourage your family, friends and neighbors to do the same. Every person matters in our communities and we want every person to be counted in the 2020 Census!
