Catholic Charities of Boston Receives Yawkey Foundation Grant
$700,000 Strategic Initiative Funding to Support Expansion of Multi-Service Centers
The Boston Globe's Metro Section featured the scene at Catholic Charities of Boston's Yawkey Center during the 3,300 Thanksgiving meal distribution event on November 20. The event was part of a larger coordinated effort by United Way, where approximately 18,000 Thanksgiving meals were given to people in need.
Quoted in the article was Mildred Lee, 85, of Dorchester. “It means a lot to me because it helps with my grocery money. I’m on a fixed income,” Lee said.
During the last 18 months of living through a global health crisis, Catholic Charities has responded to immense and growing demands on its four core services areas: Basic Needs, Family and Youth Services, Adult Education and Workforce Development, and Refugee and Immigrant Services, while the lasting effects of the pandemic make us unable to host our traditional in-person fundraising events.
