Catholic Charities of Boston Celebrates Black History Month: Part 6

In honor of Black History Month, our colleagues from around Catholic Charities of Boston share their reflections on iconic Black heroes from throughout history who inspire them. Part 6 of our series features Advancement Officer Jennifer Klemmer, who draws inspiration from civil rights and human rights activist Ella Josephine Baker.  Jennifer shares that Baker's formula for successful leadership resonates with her.

A quote from Baker that inspires Jennifer is:

“I have never thought in terms of my 'making a contribution,' I just thought of myself as functioning where there was a need. And if I have made a contribution, I think it may be that I had some influence on a large number of people.” - Ella Baker (Gerda, Lerner, ed. Black Women in White America: A Documentary History 1992)
