El Centro Adult Education Student Highlight: Ruth

Ruth and her family are originally from Guatemala and have lived in the United States for over six years. Ruth is a student at Catholic Charities of Boston’s El Centro del Cardenal in Jamaica Plain, where she is enrolled in level 5 English language learner classes.
National Mentoring Month
January is National Mentoring Month, an annual campaign aimed at expanding mentoring opportunities and connecting more young people with adult mentors.
CCAB South English Transcultural Center (ETC) Update
For 35 million adults in the U.S., English is a second language, which can create barriers to education, employment and higher wages.
We are currently offering remote classes to those interested in learning English at Catholic Charities of Boston’s South division in Brockton.
The ETC (English Transcultural Center) offers morning and evening ESOL classes (English for Speakers of Other Languages) to adult immigrant learners. We aim to meet the English language, educational, employment and social service needs of immigrants in our local communities.
