Cardinal Seán O'Malley's Statement on the Inauguration of President Joseph Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris
Please find a statement below from Cardinal Seán O'Malley regarding today's inauguration of President Joseph Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris:
Social Justice and Remembering Martin Luther King, Jr.
Today, we remember Martin Luther King, Jr., one of our nation’s most prominent social justice leaders. We are reminded of his legacy and his call for peace, unity, and positive change.
It has been a half-century since his murder, and still today, we find ourselves facing barriers in achieving social justice in our communities, including poverty, unemployment, and the rising cost of living. The unrelenting health crisis has further exacerbated these inequalities within our neighborhoods.
El Centro Adult Education Named "Rethink Adult Education Challenge" Finalist
Catholic Charities of Boston’s El Centro adult education program is thrilled to be named a finalist in the national Rethink Adult Education Challenge. Participating in this $750,000 competition from the U.S. Department of Education gives us the opportunity to build a pre-apprenticeship program for local adult learners.
Through June 2021, we’ll be working with experts to develop a detailed program proposal.
