Emmanuel College Dance Team Spruces Up St. Ambrose Family Shelter for the Holidays
Residents at Catholic Charities Boston’s St. Ambrose Family Shelter were delighted to find festive holiday décor and a beautiful Christmas tree in the common space beside the kitchen, all thanks to the 14 members of the Emmanuel College Dance Team who spent hours organizing and transforming the shelter for the holiday season.
Beyond decorating, the team worked to declutter and organize the shelter pantry and the gift room, which contains donated books and toys to winter clothing, that will be gifted to St. Ambrose residents and community members in need over the holidays.
As a former member of the Emannuel College dance team, St. Ambrose Stabilization Case Manager Nicole Heniger said she thinks participating in such service days is an invaluable way of strengthening team bonds. Now as a staff member at St. Ambrose, she witnesses firsthand every day just how impactful even the simplest acts of service can be.
“The team really helped us make the shelter Christmas ready, and I know it makes our staff and residents very happy,” said Nicole.
St. Ambrose is one of seven shelters operated by Catholic Charities Boston, providing women and families experiencing homelessness with case management and a safe place to live as they work to rebuild their lives and find stable housing.
