Give Back with Light the World Giving Machines

Catholic Charities Boston has been named a recipient of The Church of Latter-Day Saints’ Light the World Giving Machines initiative for the second year in a row, which includes vending “giving” machines that allow donors to make critical donations to people in need, from utilities assistance to winter coats to newborn care items.

This week, Catholic Charities celebrated the grand opening of the machines at the CambridgeSide Galleria Mall along representatives from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and other non-profit organizations. The Machines will be located at CambridgeSide until the end of December.

Giving Machines provide an instant act of service for people looking to help those in their community and around the world. Visitors can make donations by purchasing items ranging in price from $3 to $300 and include staples such as clothing and hygiene items, meals and school supplies to livestock and life-saving medicine. The initiative first came to Boston in 2023 and raised over $13,000 in support of Catholic Charities Boston clients.

“Our teams certainly work hard all year long, but especially around the holidays, we try to offer extra support to our families,” said Catholic Charities Boston President and CEO, Kelley Tuthill. “The support we receive through the giving machines do just that–it provides the opportunity for people to experience a little less stress and a lot more hope and joy.”

Donations can also be made here for those not able to come to the machines in person. 100% of all donations go directly to the participating charities.
