‘He never gives up:’ Brockton Food Pantry Volunteer, Sony, Determined to Help His Community

Longtime Brockton resident, Sony, is a model of the compassion and service that drives Catholic Charities Boston’s mission. Almost every day, for nearly ten years, Sony has been volunteering at the Brockton Food Pantry, where he helps to stock shelves, hand out bags, and serve as an interpreter for Haitian-Creole-speaking clients.

Despite being born with cerebral palsy, a neurological condition that affects individual’s mobility and muscle control, Sonny knows he is capable of making a difference in his community and having a positive impact on the world.

“Even though he has challenges, he always shows up to volunteer four times a week,” said Shawna Bradley, Brockton Food Pantry Manager. “Sony never complains, and he never gives up.”
