How To Give Back with Catholic Charities Boston’s Amazon Wishlists

Cake mix, frosting, and a pack of candles for a child’s 5th birthday party – a coloring book and a box of brand-new colored pencils for a camper at Sunset Point Camp – a pair of warm, cotton socks and comfortable sweatpants for a mother who is working two jobs in order to keep the lights on: these may sound like small things, but with the high cost of living today, these simple joys and everyday items are financially burdensome for countless families who are struggling to get food on the table.

Thanks to Catholic Charities Boston’s Amazon Wishlists, however, there are ample ways to support families in need, during the holidays and all year round.

Spread Comfort and Joy to the Children RIS Serves

Catholic Charities Refugee and Immigrant Services team works with children who have recently arrived in the US to reunite with loved ones after years of being apart.  These resilient kids are starting to learn English, make new friends, and adjust to their new home, which can be challenging at times. To help bring a smile to the faces of these children as Christmas approaches, gift donations can be made through Catholic Charities Boston’s RIS Amazon Holiday Wishlist. All gifts will be sent directly to RIS staff members, who assist with wrapping and delivery by Christmas morning.

Create Memorable Birthday Celebrations for Children in Need

For the past four years, Catholic Charities Boston’s longtime partner, St. Cecilia’s Parish, has maintained a Birthday Amazon Wish List on behalf of Catholic Charities Boston that allows people to purchase all the fixings of a birthday celebration for a family in need, from cake ingredients to disposable plates and silverware, to balloons and other festive items. The list was formed four years ago, after one young St. Cecilia’s parishioner expressed a desire to help other children in need properly celebrate their birthdays – today, the wish list is a legacy of this young parishioner’s kindness and models the compassion that drives Catholic Charities Boston’s mission.

Help Ease Financial Stress for Families in a Shelter

An Amazon Wish List was also created for Catholic Charities Boston’s emergency shelter, the Catholic Charities Inn, allowing community members to donate basic needs items, like clothing, school supplies, and basic furniture to residents in need, many who have small children.

Bring a Smile to a Child at Camp this Summer

And while winter has only just arrived, it’s never too early to support Catholic Charities Boston’s summer camp, Sunset Point Camp, by purchasing an item on the camp Wishlist, which includes toys, games, and art and crafts supplies that will be gifted to children during Treasure Night, a longstanding tradition in which campers compete in games and raffles to earn prizes.
