In the Globe: How one Haitian migrant family defied the odds and secured a home of their own in Boston
Catholic Charities Boston was featured in a recent Boston Globe article by reporter Samantha Gross about a Haitian migrant family who recently moved out of the agency’s emergency shelter in Brighton, the Catholic Charities Inn (CCI), and into a stable apartment of their own in Boston.
From seeking a permanent home amidst the statewide housing crisis, to securing employment and healthcare, to enrolling their child in school and signing up for English classes, the family worked tirelessly with Catholic Charities staff to get to where they are today.
Describing the day the family moved out of CCI, Samantha writes: “They packed what little they owned and said good-bye to people at the shelter, some in tears. Their success was a rare exception, and perhaps a glimpse at what might be in a world where there are enough homes for all.”
