Teen Center Director Joao Dos Santos and Assistant Director Lucas Medina Named 40 Under 40 Cape Verdeans by Cape Verdean Association of Boston

Joao Dos Santos, longtime Director of Catholic Charities Boston’s Teen Center, and Assistant Director, Lucas Medina, were recently named two of Boston’s 2024 Top 40 Under 40 Cape Verdeans by the Cape Verdean Association of Boston for their incredible impact on youth in the City of Boston.

Having immigrated from Cape Verde and a former member of the Teen Center himself, Joao knows firsthand how crucial the support system and tight-kit community at the Teen Center are in carving out pathways to success for young people.

Joao and Lucas, as well as the other honorees, were formally recognized on July 2 at the Annual Cabo Verdean 40 under 40 Gala di Merito, which took place at The Westin Boston in the Seaport.

“The celebration was meaningful because it is the first time that this is being done in our Cape Verdean community here and because some of my youth from the Teen Center were also honored, which was very special to witness,” said Joao.
