Youth Across Greater Boston Step Up to Fight Food Insecurity

This Saturday demonstrated the power of teamwork, as students from across the community came together to make an impact at Catholic Charities Boston’s food pantries.
Over two dozen young adults – including longtime weekly volunteers and confirmation students from St. Ignatius – worked together to stock over 1,200 bags of non-perishables at the Yawkey Food Pantry, while students from St. Sebastian’s and Newton Country Day donated items collected from a shared food drive between the two schools. Meanwhile, at the Lynn Food Pantry, students from Middlesex High School shelved over 3,500 pounds of food for clients in need.
Holly Clark, Director of Volunteer Programs, said staff across the agency are incredibly grateful for all of the students who support the agency’s fight against food insecurity.
“We’re so grateful for committed volunteers who make serving so many in the community possible,” said Holly. “My hat is off to every young person who shows up early on a Saturday morning to volunteer at our food pantries.”
