For 35 million adults in the U.S., English is a second language, which can create barriers to education, employment and higher wages.
We are currently offering remote classes to those interested in learning English at Catholic Charities of Boston’s South division in Brockton.
The ETC (English Transcultural Center) offers morning and evening ESOL classes (English for Speakers of Other Languages) to adult immigrant learners. We aim to meet the English language, educational, employment and social service needs of immigrants in our local communities.
The center offers two levels of English, as well as enrichment and computer literacy classes. Level 1 is for the beginner student while Level 2 is for students who are slightly more advanced. Case management is also provided to all current and former students and includes job search assistance as well as help with immigration/citizenship applications.
The English Transcultural Center is located at 169 Court Street, Brockton, MA 02302, though classes are fully remote for now to comply with COVID-19 guidelines. All classes are taught virtually using Zoom on a cell phone, tablet, or laptop.
