Help Us Fight Food Insecurity This Lent

Monday, March 1, 2021

Over the last year, the pandemic has forced everyone to give up so much. This Lent, instead of giving something up, join us in giving back.

The health and economic impacts of COVID-19 have been especially challenging for our most vulnerable community members, and now, more than ever, we need your support to help us help our neighbors in need gain access to life's basic necessities.

According to The Greater Boston Food Bank, food insecurity in Eastern Massachusetts is at an all-time high with a projected 66% increase in the number of people struggling with access to healthy food, while the number of children living in food-insecure homes has surged 117%.   At Catholic Charities of Boston’s Yawkey Center food pantry alone, we went from serving 200-250 families each week to now serving that number of families each day.

Please consider ordering shelf-stable food from Amazon or another online retailer and having the shipment sent directly to a food pantry to help us keep our pantry shelves stocked for our neighbors in need.

In-demand food items include:

  • Rice
  • Beans
  • Canned soup
  • Canned vegetables
  • Pasta

Orders can be shipped to:

Yawkey Center Food Pantry, Catholic Charities of Boston

185 Columbia Road

Dorchester, MA 02121

Thank you for helping us rise to the demands on our pantries and enabling us to continue serving our community members in need.
