The Catholic Charities Teen Center at St. Peter's is excited to welcome ten teens from the Virtual MLK Scholars Program, sponsored by John Hancock, to work for the Teen Center this summer.
In its 13th year, John Hancock's MLK Scholars Program provides employment and job readiness opportunities for Boston's youth. With youth unemployment rates at a record high of 31%, and communities of color disproportionately impacted by the pandemic, John Hancock is continuing its commitment to expand ecomonic opportunity for local teens, support community based organizations, and help foster a more diverse talent pipeline for Boston.
We are proud that John Hancock selected Catholic Charities of Boston as one of the 50 local non-profits to be involved in this program. The ten teens employed at the Teen Center this summer will continue the Center's work of supporting teens and their families in the Bowdoin-Geneva neighborhood of Dorchester with basic necessities and recreational and educational activities.
