Cardinal Seán O’Malley Urges Parishes to Join Catholic Charities in Addressing Housing Crisis
In a recent letter to parishes, Cardinal Seán O’Malley mentioned Catholic Charities Boston as one of three local agencies working tirelessly with the Archdiocese of Boston to address the housing crisis, in partnership with city and state officials. In his letter, Cardinal Séan encourages parishioners to coordinate donation drives for items that will be collected and distributed through a partnership with the St. Vincent de Paul Society.
“I stress that this is a crisis but is only going to expand. I offer this invitation in the spirit of Pope Francis who has asked us as Catholics to watch the “peripheries” of society where suffering is located,” said Cardinal Seán. “In our time, migrants and refugees among the most vulnerable individuals and families in the United States. It is my hope and desire that as a Church we respond generously and effectively.”
