Catholic Charities Boston Statement on Next Archbishop of Boston and Cardinal Seán P. O’Malley’s Retirement
Cardinal O’Malley has been an inspirational leader and steadfast ally, using his global platform to emphasize the importance and value of serving the most vulnerable among us, including welcoming all into our communities. He has been a champion of Catholic Charities and those we serve for over two decades. As we honor the Cardinal’s legacy of inspiration and hope we welcome Bishop Richard Henning of Providence as the next Archbishop of Boston. We are committed to carrying on the important work of Cardinal Seán P. O’Malley with Archbishop Henning as we continue to collaborate on solutions and act with kindness and compassion to humbly provide the services necessary to give all in our community hope for the future.
Today we celebrate our new Archbishop of Boston, Richard Henning, and look forward with great optimism that together we will continue in our faith mission to do good for others and support all those who seek our help.
