In the Media: Menino Family Hosts 30th Annual Christmas Eve Toy Drive at Teen Center
Catholic Charities Boston was featured in several recent articles in the media covering the annual Christmas Eve Toy Drive at the Teen Center, a longstanding tradition of giving back to the community which the late Mayor Menino’s family has maintained for 30 years.
Over 370 families, primarily from the Bowdoin-Geneva neighborhood, attended the toy drive this year, which offered everything from warm winter necessities to highly-sought-after toys for children of various ages.
Kelley Tuthill, President of Catholic Charities Boston, said that she is so grateful for the tradition and the joy it brings families across the Dorchester community every year.
“It’s really tailored to make sure the kids get what they want. They let ‘Secret Santa’ know, and that ‘Secret Santa’ is the Menino family, and they make these wishes come true,” said Kelley. “It’s really important to the Menino family that the kids get what they most want. That’s the joy of it.”
